Research and Development
For this project, extensive research was done. Multiple covers for the controller available in the market were analyzed. All pros and cons of the covers were studied and then a concept sketch for an optimized model was made.
3D Model
After the concept sketch was made, all necessary measurements were taken and a 3D model was made to visualize our design in a more realistic way. We also rendered our product to make sure it looked good in the real world too and not just on a computer screen.
Design for Prototyping & Prototype Testing
Let’s face it, designs rarely come out right the first time you make them. We made several iterations for our design and settled on one that we thought was best. The design was then prototyped to accelerate development and to detect any design flaw (as they say: measure twice, cut once)
Design for Manufacturing & Manufacturer Sourcing
After fixing the design flaw (if there were any), we approached around 8 different manufacturers and asked for their production sample and quotes to find the best that would have good manufacturing ability and would also be cost effective. We also made sure that the manufacturer would be able to handle mass production of our product.
Renderings and Animations
To market our product, we then brainstormed graphics for our packaging and also made a few 3D animations to showcase our product to the market.
